The story of the Met’s newest New Scotland Yard.

‘How do you give a sense of transparency and openness in the headquarters of an institution for law enforcement?’

In 2017, the Metropolitan Police moved to a new home on Victoria Embankment in central London. The move signalled a significant change in their working culture, reinforcing the organisation’s desire for transparency and engagement with the people of London. The newest New Scotland Yard is a mid-century building by William Curtis Green, remodelled by architects AHMM as a twenty-first century headquarters, a contemporary workplace with many reminders of the ’s unique history and identity.

This book, the first of a series of Minigraphs on AHMM’s key buildings, describes the project in detail, explaining the design by setting it in its rich historic, urban and organisational context.
